Kenneth Pobo

Aunt Stokesia Didn’t Die After All

How did I become immortal?
One day I’m in heaven
and the next I’m wandering.
Which I enjoy. I wander

with a purpose. I want to see
justice done. It’s like this friend
who I never see, but he’s fine,
I’m sure of it, and we’ll meet again.

May I stop in your village?
We can discuss where to get
good apples. Then I’ll move on,
a basket of dusk on my head.

Kenneth Pobo has a new book out called Dindi Expecting Snow (Duck Lake Books). His work is forthcoming in: North Dakota Quarterly, Comstock Review, American Journal of Poetry, and elsewhere. He teaches English and creative writing at Widener University in Pennsylvania.
